I've been married for 22 years, have grown children and am looking to get divorced. Where do I start?

Since divorce is really a division of a partnership, you should start by gathering your financial information together. Preparing and understanding your financial needs and future needs is essential. Start by gathering tax returns, bank statements and credit card statements for the past three years. Gather up documentation about the value of your assets, including your house, pensions and retirement funds. Understand your financial picture by looking at both your income and expenses by preparing a financial statement, which will show the Court a picture of both your liabilities and assets.
